Job Description:

                                                     Electrical Controls Principal Engineer


Our client is an innovative global leader in the supply chain automation industry. For over 70 years, this $1B company has specialized in the design, manufacture, installation and support of integrated systems for manufacturing, warehousing and distribution. This front running company is currently interviewing qualified individuals for an Electrical Controls Principal Engineer.

The Electrical Controls Principal Engineer 
will be responsible for identifying and resolve complex problems and providing technical leadership to the company. This person will also provide additional department training for Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) and Machine Safety. This individual will represent the department in discussions related to mechatronic design improvements, participate in professional organizations (ASME / CEMA / ANSI / NFPA79) and interact with Development and Product Management. This will include audits and technical reviews. Other duties involve monitoring compliance to applicable codes, safety, standard practices, policies, and recommending new technologies.  An ideal candidate will be able to perform highly complex, varied engineering work, assist with technical design reviews, and participate in hardware and software design.

Qualifications for this Position Include:​


  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent based on experience.
  • Emphasis in Power and/or Controls engineering
  • Experienced in all phases of a material handling project life cycle performing safety risk analysis, including arc flash analysis, performing power studies, power calculations, and analysis.
  • QEW Certified and/or working toward being QEW-A certified.
  • Effective written and verbal communication with technical concepts.
  • Knowledgeable in OSHA, MIOHSA, NFPA 70, NFPA 79, UL508A and ISO13849 codes.
  • Ability to demonstrate a level of expertise in the following areas: distributed controls architectures, machine safety, power, testing, analysis and prototyping.
  • Familiarity with applying control measures and electrical safety designs based upon hazard analysis.
