Our Client is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Clerk to assist a municipal agency dedicated to housing and community services. This is a long-term temporary opportunity for someone who enjoys structure, organization, and making a positive impact in the community.
The Accounts Receivable Clerk will provide critical clerical support within the finance department, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in A/R functions, documentation, and reporting. Responsibilities:
- Assist with processing and recording accounts payable and receivable transactions
- Prepare bank deposits and help reconcile monthly statements
- Maintain general ledger entries and assist in month-end closings
- Support preparation of HUD-related financial documentation and audit materials
- Review invoices for coding accuracy and approval
- Reconcile accounts for housing programs (HCV, Public Housing, LIHTC)
- Help with payroll processing tasks as needed
- Maintain organized records and financial files
- Respond to internal and vendor inquiries
- Perform other finance-related clerical tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 1–2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience (public or nonprofit sector experience a plus)
- Working knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (QuickBooks, Yardi, or similar)
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism
- Familiarity with HUD accounting standards and public housing operations is a plus
