Our client is a municipal department in the Milwaukee area. They are currently interviewing candidates for a key role in their Housing Management department as a Certification Specialist.
The Certification Specialist will be responsible for supporting the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program by processing annual and interim re-examinations for current HCV participants. This person will meet with participants by appointment to assess eligibility, obtain required documentation files, and determine the participant’s continued eligibility or ineligibility.
Other duties will include assisting with investigations of tenants or landlord program abuse, identifying overpayments, and initiating repayment agreements. This individual will maintain records and generate reports related to the HCV program.
This person will audit files of current participants and new admissions for completeness and consistency.
Qualifications Include:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two years of general office experience in a fast-paced environment; One year job related experience managing a high case load in government or non-profit preferred.
- Previous experience with HUD preferred.
- Proficiency in in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills; organizational/recordkeeping skills, attention to detail; strong sense of urgency.
- Ability to interview participants, work with the public, participants, and officials professionally.
- Strong math skills calculating fractions and percentages.
- Housing Choice Voucher Specialist (HCV) certification.
