The HR Generalist will be responsible for a full range of HR duties with a primary focus on payroll processing, benefits administration, and employee relations. This role supports day-to-day HR operations and helps ensure organizational compliance with relevant laws and policies.
Responsibilities:
- Process bi-weekly payroll and maintain payroll records
- Administer benefits programs and assist with open enrollment
- Address employee relations issues and provide HR guidance to staff and managers
- Support recruitment efforts, onboarding, and orientation processes
- Maintain HRIS and ensure accuracy of personnel records
- Assist with training coordination and compliance tracking
- Contribute to policy updates and HR communications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of generalist experience in HR, including payroll and benefits
- Strong understanding of employment law and HR best practices
- Proficient with HRIS and payroll systems
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Public sector or union environment experience a plus
