A well-established municipal agency in Milwaukee is seeking a detail-oriented HR Generalist to support core human resources functions across the organization. This is a great opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven team that serves the local community.

The HR Generalist will be responsible for a full range of HR duties with a primary focus on payroll processing, benefits administration, and employee relations. This role supports day-to-day HR operations and helps ensure organizational compliance with relevant laws and policies.

Responsibilities:

  • Process bi-weekly payroll and maintain payroll records
  • Administer benefits programs and assist with open enrollment
  • Address employee relations issues and provide HR guidance to staff and managers
  • Support recruitment efforts, onboarding, and orientation processes
  • Maintain HRIS and ensure accuracy of personnel records
  • Assist with training coordination and compliance tracking
  • Contribute to policy updates and HR communications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of generalist experience in HR, including payroll and benefits
  • Strong understanding of employment law and HR best practices
  • Proficient with HRIS and payroll systems
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Public sector or union environment experience a plus
