Our client is a municipal department in the Milwaukee area. This company is currently interviewing qualified candidates to join their team.

The HVAC Technician will be responsible for conducting preventive maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning, and general servicing of commercial HVAC systems. This individual will install heating and air-conditioning equipment, as well as providing diagnostics or repair services on climate control systems. A willingness to be on-call after hours for emergency service requests is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Repairing and replacing HVAC equipment including air handling units, cooling towers, chillers, boilers electrical and electronic controls, roof-top unit, and plumbing systems (pumps, valves, piping, filtration equipment and controls for hot water systems).
  • Operating and maintaining related electronic motors, starters, wiring fuses, protective devices and controls, heating, cooling and ventilating equipment.
  • Providing general repair and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and electronic controls.
  • Assisting with continued development of building mechanical preventative maintenance program.
  • Reciprocating compressors, brazing, soldering of components, and building automation systems.
  • Attending assigned training sessions, workshops, labs, and in-house coursework.
  • Responding immediately to building maintenance emergencies.

Qualifications include:

  • Associate degree or equivalent in HVAC field (installation and repair of HVAC equipment)
  • 3-5 years experience in the maintenance and repair of HVAC/refrigeration equipment (mechanical, electrical, and electronic automated building systems in commercial buildings).
  • Chlorofluorocarbon  {CFC)  certification from  Federal Environmental Protection Agency  (EPA).
  • Valid driver’s license at time of appointment and throughout employment.
  • Knowledge of eligibility requirements of housing programs; programs/services of an assigned. area, application requirements, standard mathematical concepts, customer service principles.
  • Using tools, equipment, and materials, determining equipment repair needs, inspecting building systems, preparing reports.
  • Safety and work procedures and applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
